What should I avoid doing with my thermoplastic armour?
Avoid high heat (activation temperature is around 65–80°C): Do not leave your armour piece in direct sunlight, in your car in the summer, do not place it near a heater, don't use a heat gun next to it...
Avoid yanking on attachments: Don't force pieces on or off as joints and attachment points can snap.
Avoid water or heavy rain as it could impact the material, the paint, the chrome effect or elements glued or attached to the armour. Also no washing machine ;)
At Events: do not let people grab or squeeze the armor roughly — it can dent or crack under sharp pressure.
LARP: Do not throw yourself on the ground or roll around in the grass. The material is flexible for dancing or even running, but will not withstand action-LARP with weapon impact or brutal falling.
How do I care for the Chrome details?
Chrome paint will unfortunately fade long term and become a regular gold/silver paint.
You can make it last longer by:
- Avoiding Water — even a little moisture can spot or lift the finish; Perfume, hairspray, or sunscreen near it; Stacking anything on top of it.
- Not touching the chrome extensively with sweaty hands; uses instead coton material if it needs major handling.
- Don't wipe it with anything abrasive, even a slightly rough cloth will scratch or dull the mirror finish.
- Never bubble wrap directly against the surface as it can stick and pull the paint off.
